One of the biggest fights in boxing is going down as two of the fastest rising stars in the sport finally clash, Gervonta Davis vs Ryan Garcia. Both fighters young, hungry, and relentless. Davis and Garcia are both in their primes and are both undefeated. Someone's "0" has to go. Which one of these lightweight up and coming superstars wins this mega fight?

Gervonta "Tank" Davis (28-0, 26 KOs)

Gervonta Davis is, no pun intended, a tank of a fighter. The man has 26 knockouts to his name, including some of the most devastating finishes we've ever seen. The power Davis generates is second to none, easily one of the hardest hitters in the sport. However, it's not just power that he possesses. Tank is an intelligent boxer who knows how to set you up for the big shot. The power and speed of Tank are his greatest gifts, but his patience and set ups are what lead him to the dance.

Davis is known to be a slow starter in fights, taking the early rounds off to calculate his opponent's range and tendencies to later land the finisher after he makes the read. Surely, the same will apply here because you have to respect Garcia's speed and power, but with the animosity between these two, don't be surprised if Tank goes straight into the fire from the first bell. Can Tank put a stop to Garcia's hype once and for all?

Keys for Davis

- Push Garcia backwards

- Attack the body

- Beware of body shots

"King" Ryan Garcia (23-0, 19 KOs)

Ryan Garcia is on the fast track to superstardom. He's well respected in the social media realm, however in the boxing world, there are still questions that need to be answered. Luckily for Garcia, this is the perfect fight to answer those questions and silence all of the doubters. Ryan has literal lightning in his hands, insanely fast and strikes like hell. His speed is like no other and will play a big factor into this fight.

Garcia's biggest weapon is his left hook, whether it's up top or to the body. Though, his biggest weakness would have to be his irresponsibility on defense. Ryan tends to leave his chin wide open and that is not what you want to do against Tank. Garcia will have to start fast and be the aggressor the whole way through. Can the "King" officially claim his spot on the throne?

Keys for Garcia

- Start fast

- Be aggressive but not over aggressive

- Keep fight in the center of the ring

Breakdown

Again, I'm expecting Ryan to start fast and Tank to take the first couple of rounds off. We could very well see Ryan up early on the scorecards, simply for activity. The big factor in this fight for me is for these fighters to establish their position in the ring early. Garcia will need to keep this fight in the center of the ring at all costs. Once his back is against the ropes, that's when Tank will takeover and punish Garcia.

That left hook will need to be established early in the fight for Ryan. As Davis starts to figure out how to get on the inside, that's when Garcia will have to take advantage. Bait Tank to come in and throw that left hook in that very small window before Tank readjusts. However, does Garcia have the defensive capabilities to avoid Tank's onslaught?

Unless he has improved on his defense, I don't believe he can defend Tank. Ryan has a big tendency of dropping his hands when he throws and leaving his chin high in the air. This led to him being dropped by a left hand from Luke Campbell in their fight in 2021, and if that same shot is landed by Tank Davis, it's lights out. Garcia's chin has yet to be tested since that Campbell fight, so if Tank lands the big one, can Garcia take it?

Final Predictions

This is a tougher fight to call than some are making it out to be. Ultimately, Gervonta Davis is the better boxer in this fight. Ryan Garcia's speed will be difficult for Davis to handle and will lead to Garcia to potentially gain a solid lead early on. Furthermore, Garcia's overall defensive irresponsibility and lack of footwork will be his downfall. And you also have to factor in the rehydration clause placed on Garcia, limiting his weight regain to just 10 pounds on fight night. Tank will use these weaknesses for his benefit and eventually land the kill shot. Gervonta "Tank" Davis gets the finish in round 7.
