Booking a WWE vs AEW Super Card

By Lourence Alturino

WWE and AEW are the two biggest wrestling companies in the world today. WWE always has been at the top and for a while, it has felt like there was no real competition for them, until AEW showed up. Since AEW's inception in 2019, the wrestling fanbase have always wondered what would happen if the two promotions faced off. I will be answering that question, as I book an entire WWE vs AEW PPV, plus the build to the show.

The Build:

AEW finally surpasses Monday Night RAW in ratings. After weeks of Dynamite defeating RAW, Vince McMahon comes out to address AEW. McMahon cuts a shoot promo and says a lot of not so nice things about the rival company. This makes the internet explode and the war has started. On Dynamite, Tony Khan cuts a promo and says he doesn’t want to start a war. Khan wants to be peaceful, but Cody Rhodes doesn’t. Rhodes is fired up and responds to Vince’s comments. Cody wants the war to happen, but Khan declines and walks away.

RAW is about to end, but Triple H comes out and calls out Cody Rhodes. HHH wants the war and wants Cody to come to RAW. Little does he know, Cody is already there. Cody jumps the barricade and gives Triple H a Cross Rhodes. AEW officially fires the first shot.

After the Young Bucks have successfully defended their Tag Titles, two hooded and masked men jump the barricade and attack the Bucks with chairs. The attackers reveal themselves to be none other than the Usos. Kenny Omega comes out, but he is attacked by Roman Reigns. The Bloodline stands tall to close out Dynamite.

On SmackDown, The Bloodline address their attack on the Elite on Dynamite. The Elite interrupt and a huge brawl between the two teams breaks out and it ends up in the crowd. Later that night, the AEW roster is shown attacking the SmackDown roster backstage. Most importantly, Jon Moxley and Seth Rollins brawl with Rollins hitting Moxley in the back with a chair like the good old times and Moxley putting Rollins through a table.

HHH is furious. He gathers around the RAW roster and fires them up and gets them ready for war. Tony Khan comes out and has changed his mind. After the Bloodline’s attack on Dynamite, Khan now is supporting the war. Later in the main event, Drew McIntyre wins a match, but the Inner Circle attacks Drew and spray paints “AEW Dynamite on TNT” in the middle of the ring. Some of the RAW roster try to fight back, but the Inner Circle runs out of the arena.

Tony Khan and the AEW roster end off Dynamite with a promo. Khan issues the official challenge to Vince and HHH, “Vince and Hunter, you bring the best you can offer, and I will do the same. WWE vs AEW, who is the better company?” Cameras cut to the parking lot, where Triple H and an army of the WWE roster are on tanks and invade AEW. Another huge brawl breaks out. Triple H gives Cody a Pedigree. He faces off with Tony Khan and says “Be careful what you wish for” and gives Khan a Pedigree.

The next RAW, Dynamite, and SmackDown are filled with interviews from members of the roster and announcing competitors for each match. We close this build off on Dynamite. One last brawl breaks out. The lights go out and Malakai Black is in the middle of the ring and wipes out multiple WWE Superstars. Black meets face to face with Triple H and Cody Rhodes hits Triple H with a Sledgehammer and AEW stands tall heading into the big PPV.

WWE vs AEW Super Card Night 1:

1. 30 Man Casino Rumble

15 men from WWE. 15 men from AEW. The winner gets a world title shot from their respective company.

Notable competitors: Shinsuke Nakamura, Cesaro, Keith Lee, Big E, Miro, Orange Cassidy, Lance Archer, and Andrade.

Winner: Shinsuke Nakamura.

Nakamura deserves a big win and now he could get a title shot at either Bobby Lashley or Roman Reigns.

Score - WWE: 1 AEW: 0

2. Team WWE vs Team AEW (Tag Team)

WWE: The New Day, Street Profits, Mysterios, Viking Raiders, and Dirty Dawgs.

AEW: FTR, Fénix and Pentagon, Santana and Ortiz, The Acclaimed, and Jurassic Express

10 of the best tag teams from both companies all in one ring in a Survivor Series style match. This should be a very fun and exciting match to watch, considering who is in it. It's a match that would absolutely steal the show on any card.

Winner: Team AEW

AEW has showcased the beauty of tag team wrestling ever since its creation, whereas WWE has struggled in that aspect for years. It's only right for AEW to win this specific match.

Score - WWE: 1 AEW: 1

3. The Miz vs MJF

Two of the biggest and best heels in the world. Two masterminds of mic work. Two wrestlers who are very similar to one another.

When going through other WWE vs AEW dream match cards, The Miz vs MJF is a very common one that shows up. Rightfully so because the promos in this feud would be amazing. Give me 2016 Miz vs current MJF in multiple promo battles throughout this build and you got a money feud.

The Miz feels that MJF is a younger and worse version of himself. MJF feels that being compared to The Miz is an insult and wants to silence Miz.

Winner: MJF

MJF going over is the right decision. He's the younger man and Miz putting him over would be great for MJF.

Score - WWE: 1 AEW: 2

4. Ricochet vs Sammy Guevara

Ricochet and Sammy Guevara are two of the premier high flyers in wrestling today. Both have showcased and proved that they are some of the best at jumping off that top rope. This would be an incredible match and a match that I've wanted to see for a while.

Winner: Ricochet

This match could go either way, but I feel Ricochet needs a big win more than Guevara does. Sammy can take a loss, while Ricochet has already suffered so much.

Score - WWE: 2 AEW: 2

5. Finn Balor vs Malakai Black

It's actually crazy that we have yet to see a match between these two. Prince Devitt vs Tommy End never happened. Finn Balor vs Aleister Black never happened. Finn Balor vs Malakai Black has to happen.

The Prince vs The Dark Messenger. Black will be trying to bring out the Demon out of Balor. Malakai wants to eliminate the Demon to prove that he is the superior Devil in wrestling.

Winner: Malakai Black

Malakai Black is currently being portrayed as this unstoppable and sadistic monster and that momentum can't be halted.

Score - WWE: 2 AEW: 3

6. Bobby Lashley vs Brian Cage

"Big meaty men slapping meat." That famous quote from Big E is the perfect way to describe this match.

The WWE Champion vs the former FTW Champion. The build is very simple. Who is the more dominant monster between the companies? The Almighty or The Machine?

Winner: Bobby Lashley

Bobby Lashley is the WWE Champion, so there is really no reason for him to lose against Cage.

Score - WWE: 3 AEW: 3

7. Team WWE vs Team AEW (Women)

WWE: Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, Bayley, Charlotte, and Asuka.

AEW: Britt Baker, Thunder Rosa, Hikaru Shida, Tay Conti, and Serena Deeb.

5 of the best women from WWE. 5 of the best women from AEW. A big question heading into the match would be can the 4 Horsewomen co-exist? They have plenty of history, but will that cost them the match against the hungry and dedicated AEW Women's division?

Winner: Team WWE

Ultimately, team WWE still wins. Unfortunately, both companies have struggled in making a good women's division. Though, team WWE is too loaded with some of the greatest women's wrestlers ever, so I just can't see them losing this match.

Score - WWE: 4 AEW: 3

WWE vs AEW Super Card Night 2:

8. Jeff Hardy vs Darby Allin - No Rules Match

Jeff Hardy and Darby Allin are very similar to one another. Allin can be considered as this generation's "Jeff Hardy".

Darby Allin sees Jeff Hardy as an inspiration. He doesn't want to hurt Jeff, but the higher ups have forced Allin into a tough situation. Jeff is also in a difficult situation because he's getting up there in age and he doesn't want to make his body suffer more pain, but WWE has forced him to be in this match.

Winner: Darby Allin

Hardy putting over Darby would be huge for his career. Allin is one of the best AEW has to offer and getting put over by a future Hall of Famer is big for him.

Score - WWE: 4 AEW: 4

9. Edge vs Christian Cage

Two Hall of Famers. Two legends of the sport. Two best friends who formed one of the greatest tag teams in history. Two brothers that became world champions.

Edge feels that Christian betrayed him by going over to AEW. Christian was in the 2021 Royal Rumble and Edge figured that he would stay. Christian left without telling his best friend. This hurts Edge and now they meet face to face.

Winner: Edge

The fact that these two are still wrestling is still insane. There could be an amazing story told here similar to the Cody vs Dustin match at Double Or Nothing 2019.

Score - WWE: 5 AEW: 4

10. Seth Rollins vs Jon Moxley

There is so much history in this one match. These two have had many battles and there are bound to have one more.

Seth Rollins thinks Moxley backstabbed him by joining AEW. Moxley counters with bringing up Rollins stabbing him in the back in 2014. This could be a very layered feud with some great storytelling from the two.

Winner: Jon Moxley

Moxley is still one of the most over acts in wrestling and has made AEW what it is today. Rollins defeating Moxley would not make much sense here.

Score - WWE: 5 AEW: 5

11. Team WWE vs Team AEW (Men WarGames)

WWE: Drew McIntyre, AJ Styles, Kevin Owens, and Riddle.

AEW: Chris Jericho, Adam Page, PAC, and Eddie Kingston.

8 of the best wrestlers both companies have to offer in 2 rings and 1 cage. With guys like Kevin Owens and Eddie Kingston, you can anticipate some brutal spots. Imagine PAC jumping off the cage and doing an insane move. Its only right to have the WarGames match in the middle of a WWE vs AEW war.

Winner: Team WWE

This is a coin flip decision, but Kevin Owens is the only man in the match with WarGames experience, so WWE has the edge.

Score - WWE: 6 AEW: 5

12. Randy Orton vs Cody Rhodes

I am aware everyone wants Triple H vs Cody Rhodes, but HHH is out of his prime. Therefore, Triple H would be choosing a substitute.

Randy Orton is the perfect substitute. Orton has plenty of experience working under HHH and has a lot of history with Rhodes. Randy and Cody were in the infamous Legacy stable together and even feuded with Triple H. So there is numerous layers to this story here.

Winner: Cody Rhodes

AEW needs to tie up the score and Cody Rhodes getting that clutch win would be a great moment to witness.

Score - WWE: 6 AEW: 6

13. The Bloodline vs The Elite

The score is all tied up 6 to 6. The final match of the war. It all ends here. Who will finally win the war, WWE or AEW?

The two factions that rule their respective companies. The Bloodline. The Elite. Roman Reigns vs Kenny Omega. The Usos vs The Young Bucks. This is easily one of the biggest matches in wrestling today. Who is the superior team and which company is victorious?

Winner: The Bloodline

The Bloodline secure the win for WWE. WWE wins the war. I just can't see The Elite defeating The Bloodline. Also, Roman Reigns and the Usos holding up their titles with the AEW fans booing them is a visual that I would like to see.

Final Score - WWE: 7 AEW: 6

Final Thoughts:

At the end of the day, this will simply never happen. One company has to lose and I'm sure neither want to suffer that fate. War or no war, every wrestling fan should be happy with the product that both companies are offering at this moment.
