It's been a couple of days since UFC 261 and I am still shocked at certain events. What a night of fights. One of the best UFC pay-per-views ever. The fans returned and you can definitely feel their energy. Chris Weidman's gruesome injury, Valentina Shevchenko's dominant performance, and Rose Namajunas' shocking title victory were other big moments of the show. In the main event, Kamaru Usman knocked out Jorge Masvidal in the second round. How did this happen?

Full Recap

The first round was very close. Usman used his jab very well and landed some big shots, which Masvidal walked off. Masvidal also won some exchanges and hit some big shots of his own. Kamaru did get a takedown, but Masvidal did damage on the bottom and even got to his feet. It was a very close round, but I did give Usman the edge in the first.

In the second round, the knockout happened. Kamaru threw a feint left hook and landed a perfect right hand on the jaw, while Jorge went for a check left hook.

How did this happen?

Jorge expected this fight to be exactly like the first one and everyone did as well. Masvidal kept his hands lower because he was expecting a takedown. Kamaru actually used this same feint left hook to right hand in the first round and Masvidal went for the check left hook there too. Jorge was ready to wrestle for 25 minutes again and got surprised by the power by Usman.

Final Thoughts

Kamaru Usman is the greatest welterweight of all time. He is 100% the #1 pound for pound UFC fighter in the world. With Trevor Wittman as his coach, he is only going to get better and that is scary. I did not expect whatsoever that Kamaru would get the KO, especially since Jorge had never been finished like that. A second fight for Colby Covington is definitely next for Kamaru Usman. What's next for Jorge is a tougher question. Nick Diaz, Stephen Thompson, and Leon Edwards could be potential opponents for him. UFC 261 was one hell of a show. Jorge Masvidal is still one of the best and popular fighters in the world. Kamaru Usman is the #1 P4P fighter and the GOAT at 170 as he wins his 14th fight in a row.
